This volume features several legendary monsters of the Japanese golden era of special effects movies of the 1960s and 1970s, beginning with the granddaddy of them all, Godzilla. "Kaiju" is Japanese for "monster", and a growing awareness in the West for these creatures reveals an appreciation of the unique qualities that distinguish these monsters from the land of the rising sun from those of any other land.
The volume features iconic kaiju from this period, discussing their backstory, strengths, weaknesses, and special powers. The book also assembles data, charts, and statistics - valuable scientific findings that will aid in the battle to save humankind. Skeletal and muscle tissue cross-sections are drawn by Mark Nagata. Cut drawings by Ryohei Tanaka. Original artwork by Imiri Sakabashira and Shinji Abe. Figures by Dream Rockets, Toy Graph, Max Toys, Target Earth, and Dokuro Taro.
