　太陽の塔⇔土偶？　狩野永徳⇔山口晃？？
　曾我蕭白⇔横尾忠則？？？　民具⇔無印良品？？？？　　　
　本講では、これまで歴史やジャンル、様式といった
　枠組みでとらえられてきた美術の見方を作新し、
　伝統美術と現代美術を見比べることで、
　時代を超えて連続する美術の特性や思考方法を考察します。
　伝統を取り入れる表現方法である「見立」や
　目には見えないものを愛でる技術「間」、
　過度な装飾やアウトローの系譜である「傾（かぶき）」、
　日本独特の自然観である「景（ジオラマ）」・・・
　といった７つの「常数」からニッポン美術を読み解く、
　画期的な美術入門です。

Award for Japanese Photobooks of the 1960s & 70s

Japanese Photobooks of the 1960s & 70s was selected as the winner of the Historical Book Award 2010 of Les Rencontres d’Arles: The International Photography Festival.

In April, this publication was one of four finalists for the Best Photography Book Award by the Kraszna-Krausz Foundation. Also in April, my co-author, Ryuichi Kaneko was awarded 2010 Scholastic Achievement Award from the Photographic Society of Japan for his years of work dedicated to researching Japanese photography and photobooks. These distinctions mark a broader, global awareness of Japanese photobooks and photography and the keen interest in their further study, an area to which we are committed.

We thank the juror panel for this award.

Photographic Society of Japan Awards
Since the Photographic Society of Japan (www.psj.or.jp) was established in 1952, each year the society recognizes people whose achievements in activities related to photographic culture in Japan was outstanding or who published exceptional photographic works or essays. For 2010, Ryuichi Kaneko was given the Scholastic Achievement Award. This award is for individuals or groups in Japan who have published outstanding works of photographic criticism or made other outstanding contributions to photographic scholarship.

Japanese Photobooks of the 1960s & 70s is about to hit the stores. We edited together some clips from our interviews with Eikoh Hosoe, Daido Moriyama, Nobuyoshi Araki, Ishiuchi Miyako, Takashi Homma, and photo-historian Ryuichi Kaneko. 自分がもっていた『Apartment』を取材の時に出したら、すぐに石内さんが「私の帯が違うよ」といいながら、サッサと「木村伊兵衛賞受賞」と大きく載せている帯を見せてもらいました。本が出た後に賞をとったら帯を作り直されたんです。

When I pulled out a copy of Apartment, Ishiuchi Miyako immediately said, “the bellyband on my copy is different.” Hers was the revised version that had prominently displayed “Winner of the Ihei Kimura Prize”.
